System configuration

The Digital Communication System DVS-21 is a 4-wire-system which includes the power supply to all modules of the system with the
control functions on a data bus. The system is freely programmable and can be programmed with the Intercom Control Software (ICS)
via PC/modem or directly with a notebook.

The digital central exchange is of modular structure, compact and with uniform electronic interfacing independent of the module application. The modules of a system are driven by the processor module via a passive communication bus.

With only two basic eurocard modules, systems of up to 104 AF interfaces (e.g. call stations) and up to 6KW of public address output power can be controlled.
With the addition of a serial interface module the basic systems are linked to form larger systems, typically 600 intercom call stations and/or 20 KW of audio power.

Each system consists of 48-way speech paths of which "group","all calls" and the individual selective connection only occupy one of the 48 channels when in use.

The User-Software ICS runs on Win 9x, Win ME, Win NT4, Win 2000 or higher.

The software is menu driven with full graphic support and is designed for ease of operation.A library of pre-programmed functions is contained within the programme and is available to all users. Applications of the highest complexity can be written from scratch or by modifying the pre-programmed library utilising the ICS.The cabinet exchange wiring inclusive of termination is also automatically generated by the program enabling "As Is" documentation to be available at any time. The processor module has the capability of storing 4 program listings simultaneously and the automatic activation of a program or return to a previous program with a simple click on data bank, takes less than a minute. Modifications during commissioning can now be instantly tried with the assurance that the last 3 settings can be instantly recovered in case of problems. The system is permanently controlled with automatic individual or common fault reports.

Programs for simulation and testing purpose are also built in to the ICS.

Even the mechanical and electrical constructional features are common for the various interface modules. A uniform configuration allows pre-wiring of a socket without knowledge of its future application. The status of the system can easily be identified without complicated measuring instruments, purely by a simple balanced system of LED indicators on the front plates of the modules.

Modules for the connection of the DVS-21 to existing communication systems from other manufacturers are also available and the replacement or expansion of other manufacturers central equipment while retaining the existing and costly peripherals such as intercom stations and loudspeakers is easily accomplished.

The basic modules of a system are:

  •  the DC/DC converter module SV01 which provides a complete basic
processor system with the required power and operating voltage,
  •  the processor module CPU1 which has the purpose to address and
          control the system,

The select decoder module KSDE allows the expansion of the addressable modules of a processor system in case of P.A. and exchange replacement applications.

The interface modules are considered in accordance to application requirements:

  •  the audio frequency (AF) module 4NSA for connection of call stations
and for audio coupling to other systems,
  •  the multifunctional interface module USE1 with RS485 and RS232 for
serial coupling, and together with an electro-optical converter for
          fibre optic networks,
  •  the multifunctional interface module USE2 for analogue coupling,
e.g. of radio systems and telephone systems inclusive of wireless
          telephones to the DECT standard,
  •  the multifunctional control module 4IOS with 8 opto coupler inputs
and 4 relay outputs with potential-free two-way contacts,
e.g. interfacing to Fire and Gas systems,
  •  the digital storage module DSS1 for storage of free programmable
tones and messages, also RAM section with delayed announcement
          possibility,
  •  the digital amplifier module V100 (see below).

For the replacement of other manufacturers systems:

  •  the audio frequency (AF) module 4NPA for connection of analogue intercom call stations,
  •  the line module 24LI for control of lines of other manufacturers intercom call stations incl. of crane stations,
  •  the two central interconnection module 4ZZA for connection of call stations to other manufacturers independent systems.

The digital amplifier module V100 is of a compact modular design and simply sets new standards.

The individual amplifier has an output power of 100 W and systems of 5, 10, or 15 kW and more can be assembled in module racks as required. Applications include; high power for announcements in large areas, to increase the output power of a call station or as hot standby amplifier.
The application purpose and characteristics are determined with the user software ICS.

The current status of connected loudspeaker loops is constantly being compared by the amplifier to a referance value, enabling instant reporting of any deviation.
